Accommodation in Ischgl
Ischgl, the ‘Ibiza of the Alps’, has plenty of smart, hip hotels. Cheaper accommodation is available, but very little at bargain-basement prices. And whilst hotels and ‘Hotel Garni’ (upmarket guesthouses) predominate, there are self-catered apartments and chalets as well.
Hotels in Ischgl
Ischgl decided at an early stage of its development as a ski resort to aim for the upper end of the market and now has nearly forty 4-star and 5-star luxury hotels. The five-star Trofana Royal has long been regarded as one of Austria’s top hotels, but it faces strong competition in Ischgl from the 5-star Schlosshotel. Currently the highest-rated 4-star hotels according to their previous customers are the Hotel Modern Mountain, Alpenhotel Ischglerhof, Alpvita Piz Tasna, and Hotel Garni Mondin, which are all almost always rated as ‘superb’, but competition is fierce and their lead is a slim one, so use the accommodation finder link at the bottom to see if another one has recently pipped them.
Hotel Fatlar is a very good 3-star hotel. Hotel Garni Martina and Hotel Garni Siegele don’t have any stars (as is common with Hotel Garnis) but they are located close to the lifts and get exceptionally high ratings from their previous guests.

Staying in Samnaun
Lastly, if you can’t find what you want, or on reflection feel that Ischgl might be too loud and lively, remember that it only forms half of the Silvretta ski area, and just across the Swiss border is its lift-linked, snowy neighbour Samnaun. It’s much quieter and because it’s duty-free, it’s one of the cheapest high-altitude Swiss ski resorts to stay in.
