Accommodation in St Moritz
With its famous five-star hotels, St. Moritz is not the place to stagger into town under a towering rucksack and ask directions to the nearest youth hostel. But there is some comparatively moderately priced accommodation as well, both in the town and the nearby villages. And to some people’s surprise, there is also a very good Club Med.
Visitors come to St Moritz from all over the world, and wherever you’re coming from, accommodation can be easily booked directly via our online links to recommended hotels and apartments.
Hotels in St Moritz
Badrutt’s Palace is perhaps the most famous and exclusive of all St Moritz hotels and the place to go if you want to be seen, but it’s pricey and some of its more formal areas require a jacket and tie which don’t suit every skier.
For history, it’s hard to beat the Hotel Kulm, started by Johannes Badrutt in 1855. He went on to become one of the country’s leading hotel pioneers, bringing developments such as electric light to Switzerland on Christmas Eve 1878, in the dining room of the Kulm Hotel. The Kulm is also the location for the St Moritz Tobogganing Club’s meetings and non-sledging events.
The enormous Suvretta House is another of the town’s grand hotels which even has a private lift connecting guests to the Corviglia ski area. More relaxed is the 4-star Schweizerhof, with good food and service and a central Dorf location.
The famous 5-star Carlton Hotel has some of the best views of the lake and mountains. Inside is the equally upmarket restaurant Da Vittorio, as well as a 3-floor spa area. The hotel also has a 24-hour Bentley limousine service to ferry guests around St. Moritz.
The Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in Bad is another famous 5-star hotel, with a casino. The other Bad hotels are much lower-key but still high quality. The area is popular with Italians, for whom St. Moritz is easier to reach than for almost anyone else.
But these are just the most famous hotels. There are plenty of 4-star and 3-star hotels in town, and some highly rated 2-star options just outside such as the Hotel Chesa Sarita Superior in Sils Baselgia and the Hotel Engadinerhof in Pontresina.

All-inclusive Club Med Holidays in St Moritz
One way for a family to cut costs in an expensive resort is to go all-inclusive. The Club Med Saint-Moritz Roi Soleil is on the southern edge of St Moritz Bad but is less than a 300m walk to the main Signal lift. It has a heated indoor pool, kids clubs for children of all ages, several bars and restaurants and on-site ski-lockers. Standard packages are either with a flight or not (you choose) but include a ski pass, and ski lessons as well as full-board accommodation with gourmet meals and an open bar.
