Getting to Engelberg by Rail from Zurich Airport

Engelberg can also be reached slightly more slowly by rail from Zurich airport to Lucerne, with hourly direct connections from the airport to Lucerne and a direct hourly service from Lucerne to Engelberg. The rail journey from the airport takes just over 2 hours including a 15 minute interval at Lucerne allowing ample time to change to Zentralbahn line from Lucerne direct to the centre of the village;

Driving to Engelberg

Engelberg is easily reached by car as it’s just 20 kilometres from the nearest motorway exit to the village. Follow motorways from all directions to Lucerne, then the A2 south towards the Gotthard. Leave the A2 at the Stans-Süd exit (16 kms after Lucerne) and follow signs for Engelberg (a further 20 kms by good road).  The main lift station and a large carpark are on the right before you reach town and the centre of town is partly pedestrianised.
