Getting to Leukerbad by Rail
The nearest train station to Leukerbad is at Leuk from where you can take a taxi (book online in advance at Ski-Lifts) or take the bus.
The bus service between Leuk and Leukerbad is comfortable and reliable and runs regularly withat least one bus every hour in each direction from about 7am to 9pm. It’s just a short walk from railway platform to the bus stop which is easily visible in front of Leuk railway station. For bus timetables go to www.llbreisen.ch
Geneva Airport Rail Transfers
If flying into Geneva, take an Inter Reggio train from Geneva airport direct to Leuk (2hours 25 minutes) then complete the journey from Leuk to Leukerbad by bus (30 minutes) or take a taxi.
Zurich Airport Rail Transfers
If flying into Zurich there’s a fast Inter City train service from Zurich airport to Visp (2 hours 20 minutes) where you change trains taking an Inter Reggio train from Visp to Leuk (10 minutes) then take the bus from Leuk to Leukerbad by bus (30 minutes).
Sion Airport Rail Transfers
If flying into Sion, there’s a free shuttle bus during the ski season which will take you from the airport to Sion railway station where you can take a train from Sion to Leuk (20 minutes) then complete the journey to Leukerbad by bus (30 minutes). Total journey time from Sion to Leukerbad usually takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes.

Driving to Leukerbad
It’s an easy drive from Geneva (AI/A9) or Sion airports (A9), around 190km and 40km respectively, from Leuk. From Leuk to Leukerbad is just 15km, but the road zig zags up from Leuk in the Rhone valley (731m) to Leukerbad (1,402m) and hence this part of the journey is definitely more interesting and more challenging (winter tyres and snow chains essential in winter).
Leukerbad Taxis
Alternatively, you can arrange a transfer between Leuk and Leukerbad by taxi, but there’s no real advantage in doing so unless you miss the bus or need to arrange a transfer particularly early or late in the day.
