Local Zermatt Taxi Transfers
Local taxi firms in Zermatt, like Alphubel Taxi + Limousine Services and Taxi Christophe will also quote a price to take you to the resort from any airport but they are usually more expensive than the specialist Airport Transfer providers. Some taxis are allowed to take you to Zermatt itself rather than drop you off at Tasch station for the 12 minute mountain cog railway into Zermatt, but their access into the centre of the resort is restricted so you may have to change to an electric taxi anyway, and the cog railway journey is usually quicker than being driven by car up the twisty mountain road.
Getting to Zermatt by Rail
The international airports of Sion, Geneva, Zurich and Milan all have good rail connections via Brig or Visp to Tasch where you change onto the cog railway to Zermatt . You can also change trains at Brig or at Visp (from Geneva and Zurich) from the mainline to the mountain cog railway which serves the Zermatt valley. It’s simply a matter of crossing the road from one track to another. The railway journey can be very beautiful.

Driving to Zermatt and Car Parking at Tasch
Zermatt is car-free: drivers must park in Täsch, one stop short of Zermatt, where you join the mountain cog railway train for the 12 minute ride into the village. The Tasch-Zermatt trains are frequent (about every 15 minutes during the day) and run both early in the morning and late at night. Car parks (some covered) line the road into Täsch, with a vast open air option on the right, just by the station. The frequent shuttle trains are roll-on/roll-off with a trolley, so you can even wheel your bags straight to your hotel door at the other end, if you’re staying close to the station. Alternatively, electric taxis/hotel shuttles and horse drawn carriages ferry visitors to their accommodation. Taxi drivers will be pleased to take your money, but try instead the large hotel listing board at the station, which has phones for ordering free hotel pickups.
