Accommodation in Pila
Pila and Pila 2000 have great value accommodation including good 2-star and 3-star hotels and simple apartments for self-catering. Many of the hotels are close enough to the pistes to be effectively ski-in, and ski-out. Or you can stay in Aosta and ride the gondola up every day.
Where to Stay in Pila?
The ski resort of Pila is situated at 1,800m and has two main centres. The first is close to the arrival station of the Aosta gondola, and the second, Pila 2000, is higher up at an altitude of 2,000m. Pila 2000 is dominated by some large hotel and apartment complexes but has a pleasant central piazza with a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The two sections of the village are only a 10 -15 minute walk apart, and you can ski from Pila 2000 to Pila.
Much of Pila’s accommodation is ski-in, and ski-out and the wide, gentle nursery slopes are conveniently situated near the centre of the village. This, and the fact that the village is both small and quiet with relaxed family-friendly apres ski, makes Pila an excellent base for families and beginners, as well as for intermediate skiers and boarders who don’t want to ski all day, every day.
Skiers may also choose to stay in the historic regional centre of Aosta, from where there is direct access to Pila via a high-speed gondola (20-minute ride time).
The resort is almost entirely traffic-free so if you come by car, leave it in the parking area or down at Aosta. The resort is small enough that you probably won’t use the ski buses much, but it’s an efficient service if you do.

Accommodation nearby in Aosta
Aosta is the Aosta Valley’s transportation hub and a convenient place to stay if planning to ski Pila and other Aosta Valley ski resorts, it’s also cheaper than Pila and Pila 2000. The downside is that it’s a 20-minute gondola ride from Aosta to Pila, and the last lift is usually around 5 pm (check times locally). Driving between Aosta and Pila takes longer as it involves an 18 km journey on twisty mountain roads.
