Getting to Crested Butte
Crested Butte lies at 8,885 feet (2,708 m) in the Elk Mountain Range of Southwest Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, surrounded by over a million acres (404,700 ha) of National Forest, and within a few miles of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the newest National Park in the U.S.
The town is 225 miles (362 km) southwest of Denver, the state capital and location of the nearest international airport. From Denver International Airport (D.I.A) there are short connecting flights to Gunnison on United Express year-round. During the winter months, there are also daily direct jet flights from Houston on Continental Airlines. From Gunnison to Crested Butte is a 30-minute drive, by Alpine Express Shuttle or rental car. By road from Denver is about 4 to 4.5 hours’ drive-a tiring option if you’ve flown direct from Europe. There is no rail connection to the resort.
