Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School
Steamboat prides itself on its ski classes-from simple, half-day kids’ programs to some serious technique refinement-and the ski school offers one of the best family programs in the West. There are 400 trained instructors offering a full range of clinics to suit all ages and ability levels.
The Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School, located at the base of the ski area, claims it has more Olympians and Olympic coaches on staff than any other resort in the nation. In fact, no other town in North America has produced more winter Olympians than this resort-a record 54 and counting.
Adult intermediate and advanced classes are limited to a maximum of seven persons. All other programs have no upper limit but typically average seven individuals per group. There is also instruction available for telemarking.
For young children, the minimum age is three for normal programs and two for 1-hour private lessons combined with daycare. Lunch is included with children’s programs. Parents do not need to pick up children until the end of the day.
