Getting to Sun Valley isn’t easy, but those who make the extra effort are rewarded with an exceptional experience.

Nearest Airports to Sun Valley

Sun Valley is fairly remote and can be difficult to get to, but of course that’s part of the resort’s charm. The nearest international airports are Salt Lake City and Seattle-Tacoma. From Salt Lake it’s a four to five hours’ drive. However, there are now direct, non-stop daily flights from Los Angeles International Airport, via Horizon Air, to Friedman Memorial Hailey Airport-a regional airport in Hailey, only 11 miles (18 km) south of Sun Valley. However, bad weather sometimes closes ithe Friedman Memorial Hailey airport and its runway is more suited to private jets than widebody aircraft, so most visitors still come via Boise, about 2 hours minutes away.
