Traditional architectural style and stylish interior

One of three hotels in Crans-Montana owned and run by the Bestenheider family – the other two are the 4-star Hotel L’Etrier next door and Hotel Aida-Castel – the luxurious Hostellerie Du Pas De Lours has been a member of the Relais & Chateaux Hotel group since 1997. Renovated to a high standard outside and in, the hotel has an attractive, well-preserved old wood facade and distressed wood and old-stone interior including painted stone wall in traditional architectural style, good quality soft furnishing and stylish interior design. The stone in the hotel’s foyer and lounge dates from the 17th century and the lounge and bar include a large fire place which makes for a cosy atmosphere mid-winter.

Suites & Junior Suites

This stylish chalet hotel has just 9 spacious suites and junior suites, each of which comes with open fireplace, ensuite WC and bathroom including jacuzzi whirlpool and superb south-facing mountain views, which is a big plus in this sunniest of the Swiss Alpine resorts. The suites also include the usual amenities – telephone, television, radio, mini-bar, safe and hairdryer.

Restaurants

Hostellerie Du Pas De Lours has two restaurants under the careful control of Provencal chef Franck Reynaud who uses only the best cuts of meat, fresh fish and seasonal produce and cooks with passion and delicacy to great effect including gourmet dishes in Gastronomique l’Ours more traditional home made dishes in the Bistrot des Ours.

Homemade foie gras, soups enriched with truffles, sea bass, sea bream, red mullet, salmon and lobster seafood dishes, roast Provencal lamb braised with seasonal vegetables, gratin dauphinois potatoes and traditional home cooking including chicken, rabbit, blanquette of veal, sirloin steak of beef in syrah, lamb braised with seasonal vegetables, rillettes, terrines, caramelised apple and hot chocolate desserts are just some of the dishes on offer. And don’t miss Franck Reynaud’s homemade pastries at breakfast.

Spa L’Alpage Wellness

The Spa L’Alpage wellness area offers massage and a range of personalised beauty treatments as well as sauna, steam room, sunbed, fitness room, indoor swimming pool winter and summer and an outdoor swimming pool summer only.

Getting to Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana is easy to get to by rail and road from Zurich, Geneva or Milan airports. Take a train from the airport as far as Sierre from where it’s just a few minutes walk (signposted) to the funicular which will carry you up to Montana Gare in 12-20 minutes, then a 5 minute taxi ride from the top of the funicular to Crans and the Hostellerie Du Pas De Lours.
