Ski Lifts in Grimentz-Zinal
Grimentz-Zinal has a total of 21 ski lifts with a lift capacity of 24,145 riders per hour. These include the Grimentz-Bendolla gondola and the Grimentz-Espace Weisshorn 120-person cable car (the third longest in Switzerland) from the centre of Grimentz, which provide the lift connections between Grimentz and Zinal ski areas.

The lift station near the centre of Grimentz is the departure point for two main lifts: an express gondola to the ski slopes above Grimentz and the impressive Grimentz-Espace Weisshorn cable car providing fast access to the top of the ski area at Zinal. Access to the ski area from Zinal is by express Zinal-Sorebois gondola lift.

Switching from the ski area at Zinal to Grimentz involves riding the cable car from Espace Weisshorn or skiing the Le Chamois down to Grimentz. Le Chamois is a delightfully long black run which is steep higher up, then an easy section through forested slopes and ends at the outskirts of Grimentz. It is a 10-minute walk from here to the lift station in Grimentz.
Although the lift system works well, it includes numerous long drag lifts some of which may be challenging for inexperienced skiers, boarders and young children.
Ski Lift Passes in Grimentz-Zinal
Lift pass options include local ski passes for Grimentz-Zinal (115 km of slopes) or the full Vall d’Anniviers lift pass including ski lifts at St-Luc Chandolin and Vercorin nearby, up to 210 km of slopes, 46 ski lifts and 103 slopes in total.
Val d’Anniviers ski passes can be bought online (minimum 4 hours) and the earlier you book the less you pay. A 10% discount is automatically applied for any purchase made at least 30 days in advance and 5% for purchases at least 15 days in advance. Discounts of 15% are available for children (6-15 years) accompanied by an adult, and Teenagers (16-24 years) and Seniors (age 65 and over) also pay less.
The Magic Pass
Frequent visitors have the option of an annual pass valid from May until the end of the following winter season. The Magic Pass offers unlimited and unrestricted access to ski lifts in 80 Swiss ski resorts including all three Val d’Anniviers ski resorts. The cost of a Magic Pass is only about 30% more than the Val d’Anniviers 6-day pass if you buy well in advance before the current winter season’s April deadline.

Snow Conditions in Grimentz-Zinal
Grimentz-Zinal snow record over the past 10 years averages 30 cm or more (3-4 snowy days) each month from December to April and 150 to 200 cm of snow each winter. Typically, February is the snowiest month and with most of the ski area between 2,000 and 3,000 m and facing southeast, the slopes offer good snow conditions until the lifts close in mid-April.
