The Village of Ellmau

Although the earliest recorded mention of Ellmau dates from 1155, nowadays the village is well-developed and imposing rather than charming. 

While the base of the funicular is a bus ride, other amenities in Ellmau are all within walking distance. There are ample shops offering ski equipment for rental or sale together, and a selection of interesting boutiques and shops, but  Ellmau is not for shopaholics. Although you wouldn’t know it in the winter, half of the village includes three interwoven golf courses.

That said, Ellmau offers a choice of restaurants and a few lively bars such as Bar 66, Memory and Fabels for apres-ski.
