Accommodation in Hintertux
There are a number of good hotels in Hintertux within walking distance of the ski lifts, providing quick access to the glacier. Nightlife is limited, however, so visitors who want more options should consider staying in the bigger villages lower down the Tux valley.
Hintertux is comprised almost entirely of 3-star and 4-star hotels plus a few apartment blocks, reflecting its small size and location at the very end of the Tux valley. Some of the accommodation is next to the ski lifts going up the glacier, but most is in the main village, about 10 minutes’ walk away.
For skiers wanting immediate access to the glacier, the 4-star Hotel der Rindererhof and Hotel Gletscher & Spa Neuhintertux are hard to beat for convenience, and like many of the hotels in the area, offer spa & relaxation facilities as well as on-site catering.
The majority of hotels in Hintertux itself are situated a 10 minute walk from the glacier lifts. The Tuxer Strasse road up the valley is lined with a selection of 4 star hotels including the Hotel Alpenhof and the Hotel Berghof, while there are also a cluster of 2 and 3 star hotels in Hintertux village.
Visitors wanting a choice of bars and restaurants in the evening should consider staying in the villages lower down the valley. Lanersbach, Finkenberg and Mayrhofen are all livelier than Hintertux, and there is much more of an apres-ski scene in Mayrhofen in particular. The region has good hotels virtually throughout, including the exclusive 5-star Stock resort in Finkenberg or the 4-star Hotel Elisabeth in Mayrhofen.
