This comfortable ski-in ski-out quite small 4-star hotel is an old favourite with winter sports enthusiasts. The Hotel Burgwald is set right on the slopes in the car-free village of Oberlech, allowing easy access to Lech on skis or a few minutes by cable car, which runs day and night.

A country house lounge, panoramic winter garden and restaurant with a terrace outside combine to make the Burgwald a really comfortable place to stay.

Rooms are appointed in contemporary country house tone and fabrics, with lots of wood panelling and all with ensuites, cable flatscreen TVs and free Wi-fi. Many also have balconies with views over the Oberlech plateau and the Rufikopf across the Lech valley below.

Dinner is served in the charming wood panel ceilinged restaurant and represents Austrian and regional cuisine at a high level, all supported by an excellent Austrian wine list. Breakfast is the usual big buffet affair and won’t disappoint.

Good spa facilities include saunas, a herbal steam bath, a tepidarium, a Kneipp pool, a fresh air room, various shower rooms and a relaxation lounge.
