Getting to Gstaad
Bern-Belp is the nearest international airport to Gstaad. The journey takes about one hour and 20 minutes by car or two hours and 30 minutes by train. Although transfer times by road and rail from Geneva International Airport are about 40 minutes longer, Geneva provides more flight options and easy rail transfers via Montreux.
How to Get to Gstaad
While Gstaad is the world-famous jewel in the region’s crown, the Gstaad Holiday Region includes several other villages that offer a range of holiday accommodations and easy access to the main ski areas to the west and east of Gstaad.

The Montreux-Oberland-Bernois (MOB) railway line opened the Gstaad holiday region to tourism in the early 1900s. Multiple stops between Rougemont and Zweisimmen include Saanen, Schonried, and Saanenmoser, just 5-10 minutes by train from Gstaad.

The train journey from Bern-Belp Airport to Gstaad involves two to three train changes. For example, from Bern-Belp towards Konolfingen, changing trains at Munsingen and Zweisimmen to Gstaad or from Bern-Belp changing at Belp, Thun, and Spiez to Gstaad.
From Geneva Airport to Gstaad by Train
The train journey from Geneva Airport to Gstaad is more straightforward, as you only need to change trains once at Montreux. Take an interregional train (IR90 or IR95 towards Brig) from Geneva Airport to Montreux (1 hour 20 minutes), and then enjoy the delightful MOB Golden Pass trains (Panoramic or Express) from Montreux to Gstaad (1 hour 40 minutes).

If your accommodation is NOT in Gstaad, having access to a car is generally more convenient than relying on public transport in the evening, and taxis originating from Gstaad are quite pricey.
Parking in Gstaad
The centre of Gstaad village is a pedestrian-only zone. Most hotels provide ample parking, while the finest establishments offer a full valet service. There is underground parking available at Unter-Gstaad Neueretstrasse 2 (near the Co-op), which incurs a charge in the mornings from 8 am to 12 pm and in the afternoons from 8 am to 12 pm and 2 pm, with free parking available during lunchtime from 12 pm to 2 pm and overnight from 6 pm to 8 am. Day tickets can be purchased for a maximum of 3 days. There is also plenty of car parking at ski lift stations for a moderate daily charge.
