Gstaad-Saanenland offers a good choice of ski and snowboard schools, including the Official Swiss Ski School, Altitude Ski & Snowboard School, Lovell Camps, and PURE Snowboard School. Additionally, there are more Swiss Ski Schools nearby in Schönried, Saanenmöser, Rougemont, and Zweisimmen.

All ski schools offer a variety of group and private lessons, as well as race training, freeride, ski touring, and heliskiing. Specially trained ski instructors for blind and visually impaired skiers are also available. PURE is a specialist school for snowboarders.

Gstaad Ski Schools

Choosing the right ski school necessitates understanding the Gstaad holiday region’s main ski areas and villages. The two biggest and most popular ski areas are Gstaad-Eggli-Videmanette (west of Gstaad), with lift access from Gstaad, Saanen (5km) and Rougemont (8km) and Rinderberg-Saanersloch-Horneggli (east of Gstaad) with lift access from Schonried (7km), Saanenmoser (9km) and Zweisimmen (16km). Both ski areas have plenty of well-groomed blue and red slopes. The Rinderberg-Saanersloch-Horneggli ski area has more mountain restaurants and better infrastructure for young children.

Official Swiss Ski School Gstaad

The Ski School Gstaad, known as “the Original Reds Gstaad”, offers group skiing lessons for adults and children aged three and above. The lessons are organised into three skill levels: Blue, Red, and Black. Their 007 Academy provides freeride, freestyle skiing, and race training. Children are supervised by their ski instructor during lunch. Private lessons in all snow sports, including telemark, freeride, and cross-country skiing, are available for both adults and children. Specially trained ski instructors for the blind and visually impaired are also available. Altitude Ski & Snowboard School Gstaad

Altitude Ski & Snowboard School, a British ski and snowboard school with a team of internationally qualified English-speaking instructors, was established in Verbier in 2001. It operates ski schools in Verbier, Grindelwald, Wengen, Andermatt, Zermatt, and Gstaad. The Altitude Ski School in Gstaad offers private lessons in Gstaad, Schönried, and Saanenmöser, with meeting points at the Gstaad Eggli gondola, the Saanenmöser gondola, the Wispile ticket office, and Snow Paradies (Snow Kids Village) in Schönried, or at your hotel. Lovell Camps provides private skiing and snowboarding for all levels and ages, and it is regarded as one of the top options for English-speaking skiing and snowboarding lessons in the Gstaad area. This second-generation family business is owned and operated by Swiss Canadians Bryce and Victoria Lovell, who were formerly directors of the Lovell family’s John F. Kennedy International School. PURE Snowboard School Gstaad

The specialist PURE Snowboard School in Gstaad offers group and private snowboarding lessons for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Group half-day lessons for 4 to 7 participants run from 10 am to 12 pm, with a meeting point at Wispile Gstaad at 9:50 am. They also provide personal coaching in freestyle (including freestyle, park, slopestyle, and box riding), backcountry guiding, and heliboarding. Snowsports Saanenland offers group lessons and private sessions tailored to your ability and age. Group lessons for children begin at the Swiss Snow Kids Village, following the Swiss Snow League levels and methodologies utilised by 150 Swiss ski schools to ensure consistent progression. Private lessons are available for groups of 1-4 individuals in skiing, snowboarding, telemark, cross-country skiing, off-piste, and heliskiing. It is a Swiss Ski School Association member, but their website is in German and French only, so check whether lessons are also available in English before booking. Swiss Ski School Saanenmoser

The Swiss Ski School Saanenmoser offers expert tuition in skiing and snowboarding for adults and children. The team of friendly snow sports instructors is focused on safety, fun, and successful progression. Mini Kids playful lessons for small groups of 3-6 children aged 3 to 6 years in the ski school’s private Snowli children’s ski area from 10 am – 12 pm, Group ski lessons for kids aged 4 to 16 years in group sizes of 3-9 participants and more advanced Swiss Academy black league for advanced skiers (minimum group size 4 participants) from 10 am to 2 pm. All group lessons run from Monday to Friday (starting only on Monday or Tuesday), and the meeting point is 9:45 am at Saanenmöser.
