Cervo Mountain Resort Zermatt
Overlooking Zermatt with splendid views of the Matterhorn and the village, the 4-star superior Hotel Cervo has 33 luxurious rooms and suites of varying sizes in five chalets surrounding a main building. Located slopeside and linked by elevator to Sunnegga funicular and street level.
A member of Design Hotels, the Cervo’s homely and stylish interior features an abundance of polished wood, gingham, fur, candles and antlers. But the Cervo is no ordinary hotel. It’s an arrangement of five delightful chalets, each with private spa facilities and a sense of complete privacy complemented by Cervo’s fine restaurant. Owners Daniel and Seraina have created a stylish boutique hotel, restaurant and bar that is equally suited for couples and groups. An ideal retreat for a perfect skiing holiday in Switzerland’s most iconic alpine resort.
The Cervo and its chalets have 20 deluxe rooms, four superior rooms, four double rooms, three junior suites and two suites, each with a terrace or a balcony. Four of the chalets can be occupied as units with accommodation for up to 10 people. All the rooms are decorated in a modernist style with light wood and comfortable furnishings. The chalets have fireplaces, dining tables, and kitchen areas and are well-equipped with the latest technology, including flat-screen TVs and WiFi. A recurrent decorative theme is the antlers – very typical of the Zermatt Swiss Alpine region. And the bathrooms and private wellness facilities complete the excellent interior design.
Gastronomic delights in Cervo’s restaurant and bar include succulent steaks, homemade pasta, tasty snacks and fine wines. Game, meat and fish from the grill are locally sourced, the wines are carefully selected, the specialities are delicately created, and all are served in the most convivial surroundings. The restaurant is perfect for private parties.
The antler theme is revisited in the bar where you can sample the impressive choice of wines, quaff an ale, sip an aged malt or indulge in some of the local digestifs. Relax by the fire as local musicians entertain you, or simply sit and think. The choice is yours. Outside is a large terrace where skiers can pop in for lunch or enjoy a leisurely après ski tipple with the ever-present Matterhorn as your backdrop.
Wellness facilities in each of the five chalets include a sauna, steam room, massage showers, outdoor Jacuzzi and a relaxation room. The wellness treatments are exclusively for guests and happen in the privacy of your chalet. The experienced therapist will tailor a regime to your requirements designed to bring a balance between body and mind. Oils and cosmetics are organically produced.
There are easy rail transfers from Zurich and Geneva airport to Zermatt in approximately 3 ½ hours and 4 hours, respectively, changing at Visp. From Milan Centrale station, it takes around four hours via Brig. Zermatt is car-free – except for electric taxis – so if you come by car, drive as far as Täsch (6km from Zermatt), then park and transfer by train (12 minutes) to Zermatt.
Once you arrive in Zermatt, the Cervo Mountain Boutique Hotel is a short 10-minute walk from the train station, but the Cervo Hotel will, of course, send their own electric taxi to collect you and your bags when you arrive. The private lift from the Sunnegga funicular lift station brings you directly to reception.
