Getting to Alpine Meadows

Alpine Meadows is located six miles (9.5 km) northwest of Tahoe City, California, off Highway 89, and 13 miles (21 km) south of Interstate 80 at Truckee, California.It is 195 miles (314 km) east of San Francisco, and 50 miles (80 km) west of Reno, Nevada.

Nearest airports to Alpine Meadows

The nearest international airports are Reno/Tahoe, about an hour’s drive along all-weather Highway 89, Sacramento (110 miles/177 km), about 90 minutes’ drive along all-weather Interstate 80, and San Francisco or Oakland Airport, both about a three hours’ drive (traffic permitting).

By rail

Amtrak trains run services to Reno. From the station in Reno take a taxi to Reno/Tahoe International Airport and then either hire a car or take public transportation to Tahoe City. Free shuttles operate from most north and west shore lodges. For convenience and on weekends, park at Sunnyside Resort and catch the Sherwood Shuttle (lift passes are available to buy on the shuttle).
