Getting to Kirkwood

Getting to Kirkwood ski resort isn’t always easy given that the resort receives 600″ of snow a winter, but it’s worth the trip. Kirkwood lies 35 miles (56 km) south of South Lake Tahoe, and 80 miles (128 km) west of the Reno Tahoe International Airport—approximately a 90-minute drive.

It’s three hours back to the greater San Francisco Bay Area depending on conditions. While the road to Kirkwood, Highway 88, is very well maintained, heavy snowfall can make the trip to the Kirkwood  challenging at times during the course of the season.
