Getting to Taos
Getting to Taos Ski Valley takes a little effort. That’s probably why relatively so few people make the trek. Albuquerque is the most common airport point of access, but Santa Fe is the closest option.
It lies as it always has, somewhat hidden from the glare of the better-known Colorado resorts (Vail is one of the nearest at 276 miles/444 km). Albuquerque International Sunport, the nearest international airport, is about 135 miles (217 km) away, which translate into a 2 hours 15 minutes’ journey by road (Highways 64 or 68).
The town of Taos, 20 miles away (32 km), sits on a branch of the Rio Grande in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, near Wheeler Mountain (the highest point in New Mexico) and 55 miles (86 km) from Santa Fe.
