Telluride Ski & Snowboard School
The Telluride Ski & Snowboard School offers alpine, telemark, and snowboard lessons for novice to expert abilities. It is located in the Mountain Village Plaza near the base of the gondola and operates from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ski groups should be no more than ten people, and three years old is the minimum age for young children. Children are supervised during lunch and the cost of lunch is included in the cost of the lessons. There are some good deals for beginners taking ski lessons at Telluride that allow you to pay one rate, which includes ski lessons, ski pass and lunch, for a cost of about a one day pass. Also, not associated with the ski resort are a variety of companies that offer special instruction for snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, snowmobiling, and ice climbing.
Telluride also offers Heli-skiing. Telluride Helitrax (www.helitrax.com) is located in Mountain Village. Its choppers take off from near the Peaks Resort throughout the winter, weather permitting. Advance reservations required.
