Intermediates

Chatel Intermediate Skiing

Intermediates based at Chatel will love the sheer size and accessibility of the Portes du Soleil ski area. They can get to and from all the other resorts entirely on blue and red runs, although there are optional steeper challenges if they want to be tested.

Both Chatel and the wider Portes du Soleil are an intermediates’ heaven: plenty of easy cruising blues plus a few tougher reds, most noticeably at the top of the Linga section, for more confident intermediates who want a challenge. Generally the piste grading is accurate, provided there is good snow. In poor snow conditions low south-facing slopes are the first to turn into ice and slush and became tricky to navigate. A prime example of this is the run down to Morgins on the clockwise circuit from Chatel.
